Jasmine is an American journalist attaining her BA in broadcast journalism at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. Her studies have her emerged in both print and broadcast journalism. She is also a member of the Journalism Institute for Media Diversity, an honors program in WSU's Communication Department.
Jasmine has traveled to Washington D.C. to act as a student reporter at The White House for their first-ever College Reporter Day. While at The White House, she was able to cover issues such as, student loan debt solutions and the federal government initiating sexual assault programs on college campuses. Jasmine interviewed key political officials and was also featured on news source NowThis, which captured the amazing moment she was able to meet President Obama.
In January, Jasmine was sponsored by General Motors to attend the North American International Auto Show with about 15 other college students were they acted as student reporters. While at NAIAS, Jasmine and other students attended exclusive car reveals, panel discussions, media related dinners and interview key executives at General Motors.
Currently, Jasmine is a part-time intern and contributing writer at BLAC Detroit Magazine, as well as a contributing writer for The South End, WSU's student newspaper. Along with these positions, she recently earned the position as Music Director for WAYN Radio, WSU's student radio station.
While juggling these tasks, Jasmine has held her interest in sound engineering and editing. She spends time interning a sound engineer and editor for Mr. Brooks Mixing LLC., a sound engineering, design and editing post production company in Detroit, MI. Recently, Jasmine earned her first assistant sound editor credit for local film Five-O, produced by T Mula Films. She is also acting as a studio intern for Assemble Sound.
Jasmine is also a passionate creative. She is a poet, author, motivational speaker, sound engineer and editor, singer, song-writer, and lyricist. She has recorded and produced two poetry EPs entitle About Him Pt. I and About Him Pt. II. She is currently wrapping up the trilogy with About Her: The Looking Glass Self, a composition of poetry, lyricism, song and motivational mantras. Available now is her first book "Lost Body, Kept Soul", a compilation of her works.
